Okay, These Internal Parasites Aren't Going Away! =(

Thanks muchly.

I am treating for 14 days in a row now. That's all I have to do though, right? I don't have to repeat the treatment at all? Like 14 days straight for 4 weeks, or something?

Just 14 days and the parasites will be gone?

Thanks again. :good:

Kay, it's the 7th or 8th day of treatment now. The fish are still pooping out the clear and white poo endlessly. I haven't been doing daily water changes, but I do them more than twice a week. Is it ok to feed the newborn fry this for 10 days? Because they have internal parasites too, but I don't want to malnourish them by feeding them the medicated food for 2 weeks. But I also want the parasites to go away.

Would 10 days be good? (Enough to kill the worms, but not enough to malnourish the fry?)

Thanks.

Sounds like they were infested with them.
Have the fish gained weight.
Once a fish is infested with worms the damage has been done and the med to late.

Yes, most of the fish gained a lot of weight, but there are a couple female platies that never did. But will the platies reinfest the whole tank because the med isn't working on them? What should I do? I don't want all my fish to go back to square one because the med's not working on two fish! :(

I would issolate the two fish that havent put weight on.
If there still skinny it might be best to put them out of there misery.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But wouldn't the worms be gone in those two fish? Wouldn't the damage "already be done" to their body, but the worms should be gone, right? Like shouldn't the med be getting rid of the worms?
They aren't the only fish pooping out the worms though. The other fish that are pooping the worms out are healthy and happy, (and having babies) they just won't stop pooping out the worms.
I am getting frustrated here, because now this adds new problems. Since my fish are giving birth again, but the females still have internal parasites, all the fry are born with internal parasites, and I have to treat them as soon as they're born. This doesn't seem very ideal to me. I don't know what to do.
I almost give up.

Thanks.

The worms should be all dead by now. Even in the fish that are still skinny.

Do you think this could be a bacterial infection? Honestly, the first couple weeks of treatment, my fish gained weight, but they never, ever stopped excreting that white and clear stuff in their waste.
What in the world could this be? I'm at my wit's end!
Their is this one platy, that I would especially like to mention. When she's swimming around, she looks perfectly normal, but then when she stops, she clamps her fins, and this pure clear stuff comes out, and from time to time, I see the red camallunus worms stick out.

And she's not even that bad in the pic. Otherwise though, she is perfectly healthy, swims around normally, eats normally, is pretty far into her pregnancy. (Had her last batch of fry 3 weeks ago.) I'm not sure what to do. I tried Jungle parasite clear, it's basically just a water treatment that treats internal and external parasites.
I'm also using medicated food AGAIN, for like, the 50th time! :grr:
I have nowhere to quarantine her, I'm waiting to get the 55 gallon so I can empty up some of my tanks.

I don't know what to do. She's not the only one excreting the white and clear stuff, it's almost all of my fish, though they are healthy in all other aspects. Other than that one platy, it seems to be plaguing all of my fry especially. They are all healthy except for the fact that they all poo out those white worm things.

What should I do? I almost give up, this is so strange. It's like mystery diagnosis or something, only, we seem to know what's going on, but can't find a cure.
Please help again! Thanks so much! :good:

Miss/Mrs Fry,

You probably know far more than me................ I'm much more of a rookie than you. A wild stab in the dark here, just going from a little of my experience after reading your posts with great interest, when I read about your "worm" problems I thought maybe I had the same issue.

So, before I make myself look completely stupid, are your tanks planted at all??? Is it possible that they are consuming something you have planted in the tank? Could it be that anything they have eaten is too tough to digest, therefore it's just "passing through"?

Like I said, I thought I had the same problem. I watched for a couple of days and it became clear my mollies were eating away at the plants, as they are prone to do, and couldn't digest the material.

I don't really know if it's possible, just a thought.

Harry

Wow! Never thought about that! Thank you for the suggestion, but I only have java moss & java ferns. I don't think my fish are eating that, they only eat the microscope things that live on there. I'm just kinda going to let it go, cause it's not really affecting their health, (that I know of at least...) except for that platy of course, and there are worse things that are going on besides the white/clear worms, such as a case of gill flukes with my fry.

I better monitor that platy & separate her ASAP, but other than that, it seems that I am SOL.

Thanks for the help! :good:
