i just treated my tank with Maracyn, now my balloon molly has a white spot on her tail and side fin. shouldn't it of gotten rid of this issue?? also my koi swordtail is hanging around the top of the water looking sickly. water stats are as follows.

ammonia 0
nitrites/nitrats 0.25
PH 7.6ish

i did a complete water change 50% a good scrub down and a filter wash (but not the spondge media of course)
any ideas should i remove the gravil or something i dunno anymore. i dont want to treat the tank again and i dont have a place for the balloon molly to just treat him alone.

ahh wait so your nitrites and nitrates r 0.25? you need to specify each individually as they r not the same thing.

i would say you have nitrite poisening m8, is the tank cycled and how long were they in befor you tested the water? there may have been higher levels of nitrite and ammonia befor when you put the fish in and befor you tested. having nitrites present means you tank hasn't successfully cycled just yet if you have even cycled it!

you can try melafix and or primafix im not sure theyll do anything but their all natural and wont hurt ur filter. also ask ur lfs for a med which will treat whitespot and not hurt your filtration.

you could also keep him in a bucket doing water changes every hour and a half to 2 hours as you wish and adding meds to the bucket almost like a hospital tank but instead of a filter your doing water changes. i recoment leaving 1/8th of the tank water in as from what i saw from bringing my jewel back from sure death it probably built up some good bacteria.

no, it has been runing for over 8 months my tank. nitrates and nitrites are 0 i tested again. everything is fine. as i said i do not wish to treat my tank anymore i had enough of adding medications to it. and i dont want my fish to become immune to medications where they never fight it off.

those products r all natural and they treat the water not the fish! you could do a run of each to make sure. i dont think theyll give problems with resistance and they wont touch your biofilter bacteria causer their all natural. this is what the bottles say and what ive been told!

Nitrates are pretty much never 0 in a cycled tank. Your test kit could be at fault, your ammonia and nitrite stats could also be wrong and they may be the problem.

dunno that is what it reads :D i am going to wait a little bit and see if the spot goes away on him, if not i may trade him in.

Probably worthwhile to find out if the kit works, if it's right, and you have ammonia but no nitrite or nitrate - you have an uncycled tank.

the tank is cycled i taken a sample water to my lfs for testing, all is well everything is 0 but of course PH is 7.5.
the spot on his tail is gone but the one on his fin is there and looks smaller. i will wait a little more ty all for your help. i have another question tho.

i noticed one of my fish suddenly has gotten a bent spine which it did not have before. what is the cause and can it be cured??
