0k so ive been very bored lately with my tank was losing interests in it but....

I got into planted tanks by reading all your comments and posted a pic of my tank ages ago when i first started...

from then i have completely taken all my plants and rock/wood out and started again and its looking FAB imo. i ripped out my old juwel light which came standard replaced it with 2 25w lights ( this was done today ) i also purchased a nutrafin Co2 setup and used George's mix that is nicely bubbling as we speak.

so i just wanted to say thanks to you all even tho i didn't ask any questions just from reading everything you guys and girls have wrote ive learn t alot

:good:

so here is my tank ....

Miles !!

Nice tank mate. You should be proud.
Angels look fab. Hope they dont take a liking to your Tetras :X .
Word of warning, that plant at the back next to the filter doesnt look aquatic.
Oh oh, a black background would look really good :good:

Looks the dogs ;)

I also hope the Angels dont eat your Tetras like mine did a few years back, cleaned me out of 20 Neons in 3 days :/

Didnt even have time to get to a shop and get a new tank for them

Nice tank mate, your substrate colour really makes the fish, plants and wood stand out. Looks great!

Uber proud indeed you should be.. That's perritty sherweet!! I love how simple and clean it is and as already mentioned the substrate is a fab contrast. As RadaR said a black background would look rad :) Nice job, it looks awesome :good:

What's the top-water fish?

That lookes like an awesome tank, though.

Another thing you could replace the ribbon plant with is a narrow leafed sword.

thnq for all the comments guys and girls and i have taken into consideration about black background and im off to get one today and also i havnt got any neons they are cardinals :) but yea i kno about the angels but they are only small you see.

Lovely tank!

As already mentioned, the white striped plant (dracaena sandriana) is non-aquatic. You could replace them with vallis if you like something with a similar "look" (no white stripes though).

I can't tell 100% from the pic, but it looks like the rhizomes of your java ferns are buried. Keep them above the substrate so they won't rot, just bury the roots to keep the plant in place. If it doesn't have enough roots, you could tie it to a small rock that's heavy enough to keep the plant down. Then bury the rock, but keep the rhizome exposed.

But other than that, it's a lovely tank. Love the angelfish pair, they complement the scape nicely :)

yea i was thinking it wasnt aquatic but the guy in the shop said it was and tht it was just slow growing i will look into a replacement if they don't work out, and thanks the angels are one of my favorite fish in their lol.

oh and also i have lifted the java ferns higher and they seem too look less bunched i like it thx :good:

What's the top-water fish?

the top water fish are fish that were given to me by my mate im not sure what they are but look very much like danios but they are red ??

thank you again

Miles

Hi,

Can you tell me more about you black substrate? - I've only seen 2 diff types at 2 diff LFS, i was thinking of getting some and using it to replace and mix with my natural river 3mm gravel (which is already in use).

Also which tank is that? Did you say you'd DIY Mod the hood or lighting, if so, can you also tell me more about this?

lol cheers guys and girls yea i need a plant for the left side hard to decide tho,

juewlfan i just cut old light out and put 2 new ones in on both 25w one in old place and the other under side nearest front and the gravel is one my lfs had in a normal bag so i have no idea

oh and juwelfan i will take a pic soon as 4 you so you can see what i mean
