Hi

Just want to double check, im thinking of building a diy sump/wet dry filter for a 50% planted aquarium im planning on putting together.

Ive read that a sump/wet dry filters are a bad idea cause they release the co2 from the water, witch I understand.

But wont it be ok to just use a co2 canister and pump co2 back into the sump maybe right by the return pump so the co2 gets sucked up by the return pump back into the tank.

I want to use a diy sump/ wet dry, because it will be the easiest to build and cheapest. A canister filter are very expensive where I stay and need a cheap filter solution for a planet aquarium.

Thanks

Thats one way.

But if i go the sump/wet dry root, will there be enough co2 in the water from letting co2 get sucked back into the tank from the pump?

yes. low lighting means the plants wont use much CO2, and the water (average 6-8ppm CO2) will be enough. Having the "disruption" with the sump will help to keep the CO2 levels at 6-8ppm

Cool Thanks, ill see what ill do about a filter
