do you remember this disaster

well it now looks like this

it was filled with tank water from my main tank, added filter media from main tank, 3 water changes, conditioner added, Co2 diffuser working great, been like it for 5 days.
stats:
ammonia 0.1
nitrite 0
nitrate 20 as usual with all my tanks, same as tap water
ph 6.5-7.0
temp 24c
what im asking is this ready for me to transfer my fry?they are between 3 weeks and 2 months old
or should i do a fish cycle with black phantoms
my instinct is saying that its ready but thought i would check before hand as this is the first time ive set up tank this way

The tank looks great.

I've never had fry so I can't speak from personal experience but I don't think fry should be in any tank with an ammonia reading other than 0. Any ammonia is bad for any fish and I would think it would be worse with fry. Rather than cycling with fish (takes forever), why not seed your new filter with media from your other tank and do a fishless cycle? It shouldn't take long.

Another thing (once again, no experience here, just thinking), I would think you would want a tank completely devoid of any decorations for fry so you could keep track of them. You'll never see them in that tank.

thanx for your reply, the ammonia is dropping fast gunna do another test in a minute, the media from the other tank has been next to my filter input to pass the bacteria over faster, yaeh your right fish cycle is a pain in the butt, then theres the prob of catching them after its done   ive decorated it as it is because its also gunna be used as a birthing tank for livebearers so the intense cover is needed,

If you have media from the other tank in there and the ammonia is dropping, you may be ok. If the ammonia is dropping though, your nitrite and nitrate should be rising. Maybe not the nitrite if it's cycling but the nitrate definitely should be going up.

yeah nitrate gone up to 25

just tested the tank that they are in at the moment and ammonia & nitrates are identical

Do you have ammonia in your tap water? An established tank like the one they're in shouldn't have any ammonia.

testing it now, maybe im reading the chart wrong.........i could be colour blind lol

Even though the ammonia isn't high, I would be a little concerned as to where it is coming from in an established tank and why it's in a tank with no fish in it.
