how the crap do i get them out of my tank?!?

my krib fry are now about 1 cm long and my LFS has said that's big enough to acept them. but i've got no clue on how to go about getting them out of the tank--it's got a lot of hiding spots. any tips and tricks from the experts?

Good luck!

How secure are their hiding spots? You can syphon the the fry out, or sometimes you can lift entire hiding spots right out of the tank, fish and all. You may, in the end, need to remove all the decor that lends itself to hiding spots. Impossible to say what would work best without seeing the tank.

I wouldn't syphon them, I accidently ran a goldfish fry through once and it got stuck belly up alive for a couple days seems fine now but, doesn't seem safe

I've done it before with cichlids without problems - they go for a ride. Course if you're not comfortable with it then don't do it.

try to catch them next time you feed them, that seems easiest. cause then they are out of their hiding spots.

pfft. hiding-schmiding. they're always out; they just go to ground so fast!!

i'm thinking i'll have to use trickery for this :/ unfortunately, i think my fish may be smarter than i am...

Ive got a couple fry coming my way, got a female whos currently holding, this will be my first time. What is generally the lfs policy do they throw you a couple dollars do you donate, do they raise them resell them?? I understand they all might be different so What are your stores policies

*shrug* my only previous experience with fry has been guppies. those i've always traded in at about a 5-to-1 ratio for other cheapie fish. i'm going to try trading in my 20+ krib fry for as many pearl danios as i can get.

really, every independent LFS is completely different. some won't take any fry at all, while others will actually purchase them. most places just do a variation on store credit.

--EDIT--
forgot to say, its also really dependent on the species too.

Thanks, yeah im pulling for money, or store credit haha that would be nice to use either way..
