I'd like to make my 5 gal hex a nice little planted tank but need help & answers to some questions
At the moment I have 2 live plants in, which I think are amazon sword, here's a pic, please tell me if I'm wrong;
How well do plants do in a sand substrate? I love the look of sand and have it in all my other tanks, but if I'm going to grow plants succesfully I want the substrate to be right(I have fine black gravel at the mo).
What plants would you recommend for such a small tank considering the lighting is just the one you get on the tank, I think it's 10 watts, so obviousley it would have to be plants that only need low lighting.
Is co2 absolutely necassary? I've had my current plants for over a month now and they seem to be doing fine without it.
Just any tips / advice you can give will be very much appreciated, I'm hoping eventually to plant all my tanks but thought I'd start small and get that going before attempting anything bigger.
I'm sure you must all get silly questions like this all the time and are sick of answering the same questions over and over again, I just don't want to buy a load of plants that aren't suitable, chuck em in(well not literally) and all of them die. Thanks in advance
