sorry for the in the bag shots (I personally don't like them) but I knew the second I let him out he'd take cover in the pirate ship I have in my quarantine tank, so here he is:

tiny guy right now (little over 1.5" I'd say) and should stay at only about 3" will make a great pleco for my 20g (first pleco by the way I'm so happy about having a new type of fish :) )

He's a lovely little fella.

Now the bad news... We have a spotted rubberlip who tops 5 inches....

Also Phillip.

Common name: Rubbernose Pleco / Bulldog Pleco / Rubberlip Pleco

Scientific name: Chaetostoma Milesi

FamilyLoricariidae

Origin: Columbia

Maximum size: 3 inches

might want to alter the index then.

two Phillips with puffers and rubberlips, (course mine are both much smaller then yours lol) well if worse comes to worse I've got a 20 long that I can sparsely stock so that he can fit there instead. unless anyone thinks that 6 rasboras, 2 kribs, 3 cories and the 1 rubberlip pleco will work full time in 20g regular (high whatever you wanna call it).

nice pleco
anyone know the L#?

I have one of the non-spotted rubbernoses and it's a great fish. From what I read before getting one - I wasn't expecting to see much of it, but I actually see it quite a bit, even during the day and I have seen it tackling algae wafers.

It dashes back into its cave if I make a sudden movement near the tank. It normally hangs around just outside it's cave (it should definitely have one or more caves) and seems to like sucking on rocks a bit more than the glass and plants. Quite often just sits on the gravel too. If it does venture far from its cave then it normally uses the cover of plants along the back to do it.

For feeding, I use tongs to drop 1/2 a algae wafer or pellet food inside its cave, after lights-out, because otherwise the danios have it before rubbernose gets a look in.

It should be a fine addition to your tank :)

Is there room for a Philippa in this thread? :D :p

If so, then here I am!

:fun:

Now...I must set up a tank so that I can get a rubber lipped pleco...

;)

so is there a "non spotted" version of the rubber lipped pleco? I was unaware that some didn't have spots as they had some without and some with (in the same tank) at the store but I just didn't really think much on it and picked this one because he had the best pattern and color to him.

Can't see from the pic all that well, but if it's the stiped one, it's the L187b.
Lovely chap !

I have one of those. I thought it had died, but then I found it in my "Cat fish cave' where all the cats hang out.

They are quite neat little plecos, and I have hgerd that they actually eat algea, as opposed to some fancy pleco varieties dont eat the algea.
