Ok should i be worried?

I was given a rock by someone Today. Its for fish tanks its like those rocks that kinda look like a canyon wall. With the similar orange colors in stripes. So i put it in my tank and little bubbles are coming out of it. I mean really little bubbles. And it has been coming out for a good 3 minutes. Do i have to worry it will do something to the water. Im preparing it for some cinchild. Will it affect them?

it shouldnt matter.....but to be on the safe side u should take it out and soak it in water for a while....itll stop once its full of water

And be sure to dump boiling water on it to get any germs n all that off

speakin of boiling water.....the other day in my 10 gal community when i cleaned it i took 3 of my plant that where badly covered in algea(theyre plastic) and i put them in really hot water(not quite boiling and left it in for a few min and the algea just fell off....no chemicles or anything......it was hair algea

i dont mind it but then i have a plec and 3 otos that take care of it....its just that annoying hair algea that i hate....none of my fish even touch except my gups if i dont feed them for a day or 2

It's perfectly fine, my rocks did that for the first couple hours when I put them in. My fish actually like playing in the bubbles!

Depends on the kind of rock. Some types are very pourous and might be bubbling for days or even weeks sometimes. I took Geo last semester but like most classes the information seeped away as soon as finals were over. I've forgotten exactly what kind of rock that is. I could find out though. I did retain that much.

its only a problem if your PH is really low, like 5 and the rock is being desolved.
