Ok Need A Defined Answer

Right heres were iam
finished cyclying my tank 65L last weekend
Left it a week to settle adding 3.5ml of amonia every 24hrs checking and it going OO ammonia , Nitrite

My assumtion was i would be able to atleast 75% stock the tank this weekend.

but had so many differing opinions

some here saying yep , some say nope
fish shop say what do i mean by consuming 3.5ml of ammonia in 24hrs( fishless cycle what do i mean !?!?)

so in all this i started my stock with 6 small platies

going by the 1" of fish per us gallon i think i can take about 17" of fish.. this means im about 8/17

ive been doing the rounds of fair few shops in sussex
seen a few more thing i like , different bottom feeder which i think i will need these guys( platies) are messy eaters

so can i add more stock this weekend or not???

Done my first water test 24hrs after add the fish happily got O ammonia O nitrites about 40 Nitates and PH steady at 7.6

so defined answer yes add more or No wait

Whenever you add fish to the tank, you should wait at least a week to add the next group. If you add too many too soon it could cause an ammonia spike, which I;m sure you already know is bad. What day did you add the platies? You might be able to get away with another small group this weekend.

Even though you have fishless cycled, i would sit tight with what you have at the moment. Buying fish from diferent shops and introducing together can sometimes cause issues - water differences, how long they have been quarentined etc. Although I htink your filter could handle more fish if your filter is clearing ammonia within 24hrs.

Have you tested your Nitrite cycle yet?

Yes you can around 80% of stock as you have fully done a fishless cycle and left it a week to qualify

But there is difference between cycled and a mature tank, for example tetras like a more mature tank which would be around 6 months,

The inch-per-gallon guidelines are for the adult fish size, so 6 platys would be 12-15 inches, as their max size is 2-2.5 inches

agree with jonty platys grow to 2-2.5 inches with one sex being slightly larger but cant remember which 1 it is male or female.....

Lots of different opinioins on this thread too! You need to add fish to make waste to support the bacterial colony you spent so long building up through your fishless cycle. They will be dying off as we speak as the tank is below full stocking. If you leave it a week, you'll have to wait for them to build up again in a mini cycle when you do add more fish.
65l = 17 gall, so with a potential 12 inches of platies, you're about 70% stocked. If you went cm per litre though 6 platies @ 6cm = 36cm about 55% stocked. What else were you thinking of adding?
