oily stuff

hey guys


i looked into my fish tank, and from the top it looked al blured through the water, so i stroked my fingers throgh the water, to see that it was like a sheet of solid white oily stuff across the top of my water
so when i stroke my fingers throug, it breaks into whitish lumps on the top of my water,


what the hell is this greasy stuff?

I had the same problem in my betta tank a few days ago and after googling I discovered that it was caused by fish saliva,food and bacteria.was not necessarily harmful to the fish and was more prevelant in warm weather.
