I can see the babies!!!

I now have three guppies the size of tanks, and I can see the little babies inside the mother! This is so exciting, and quite freaky, I can see their little eyes, just little black pinpricks! Wow! My babies! Ahhh!

How long do you think until the birth if I can see their eyes now? A week?

Awww, that's great! It's so exciting, isn't it?! :D

If you can see their eyes pretty clearly, the birth will be soon. Probably within the next week.

You'll have to keep us updated on when she has them and how many!

Wow those are big guppies  . J/K
My female just released a few days ago. She seemed like she was preg forever! She might have held on to the birth tho cause of the couple predators I got in there.
You should be getting fry soon so check every little hiding spot cause they're sneaky!

This is the terrible thing, I'm going to Dubai for 5 days tomorrow so I will probably miss the birth (although I have spent hours tonight gazing into the tank in hope!) and my brother in law will get to see the new babies, not me!

Despite trying, no pet I've ever had has had a baby - I've had budgies, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, chinchillas all in male/female pairs, but no babies, I thought I was cursed! Now I'm going to miss it...am kicking myself!

Awww, that's too bad. There will be other births though, she'll have babies about once a month now! :)

How are you planning to raise the babies, just survival of the fittest in the tank?

Basically yes - my tank is quite heavily planted and we have floating plants now as well as a dense fern which stretches top to bottom so they can always hide at any level in the tank. The decorations are 'spiky' which means they are also a good hiding place.

We've got plenty of people who would like any that survive to adulthood - but also some sajica which may assist in population control!

Edited to add - she's now just swimming in circles on her own poor girl, don't think she can move! I can't take my eyes off her honestly - almost two am and I'm staring at a fish, or info on raising little fish! I'm not even this excited at Christmas!

Shouldn't have the lights on at night. Disturbs the female guppy. I usually put a cover on it at night if I have to turn on the lights.

hey im goin through the same thing right now, my gold dust molly is giving birth at my moms while im here at my dads, and so far i have 2 babies (yay!!!) :hyper: just think of how awesome it will be to see how they'll grow up! my sister says they're tiny, but you can distinctly see their colors, orange and black :hey:
i have yet to see any of my fish give birth, which i think is 4, and leaving it for someone else to handle worries me too lol. this time though, im happy i got her in the breeder tank this time :D
i remember when i had hamsters, the pregnant one died giving birth :-( which was extreemly sad to watch her go through, and i wish i hadn't seen it. When i thought both of my preg feamles were close, i used to watch them constantly, and then i went to sleep and woke up to a hiding fishy in the plants :fun:

another pointless post, but just thought id share it lol
