Please help me I don't want to lose anymore!

I posted last week about a massive wipeout in my tank- some of them had white spots so i treated for ich but the ones that had symptoms didn't die. All was ok for a week then I come home from work, and there is another dead one and 3 with bloated, grey bellies. That's the only real symptom: before they die they get a grey belly. Just on that area, no-where else.

Some of the ones before had no symptoms at all and just gasped a lot, not sure what's going on??

Water stats are fine and finished the whitespot meds last Sunday.

hey,

Oh dear. Not sure of those symptons if water is OK.

all I would suggest is increase aeration, add carbon filter to remove meds now.

Hopefully someone else who knows something more can help, I would only be guessing.

Could do a water change also, cant do any harm.

yeah it's odd as the stats are all fine, wondered if it could an internal something or other? Only cos it seems that when one dies and the others eat it they get bloated with the grey tummy....

I've got carbon in there now to remove meds just in case.

oh and one girl that died and one that's still alive looked/look like they've been attacked with some scales missing... but it is entirely possible that they were picked on, being not very well. Only other possible symptom (not on ANY of the girls) is that the boy who is in the end part of the tank (it's temporarily divided at the end until my barrack tank cycles) had been very bloated, almost looked like he had whitey-yellow worms coming out of his bum. No worms there atm as far as I can see.

If there bloating up it could be internal parasites, when you say white to yellow worms what do you mean,
Mucas poo can be internal parasites as well as long stringy white poo, red worms.

What med did you use for the ich? Most ich meds kill bacteria/parasites. Unfortunately, these meds cannot distinguish from bad bacteria/parasites (ich) from good bacteria (nitrobacter & nitrosomas found in a cycled tank). Therefore, it will kill both. Since it will kill benificial bacteria, your tank would start to cycle again, thus spiking ammonia & nitrites. As suggested, I would perform a water change. In fact, several small water changes every day for about a week or 2.

Make sure you keep up with tank maintenance (filter cleaning & water changes). Most illnesses/deaths are caused by stress. The most common stress is poorly maintained tank/water.

A grey discoloured area is often associated with flexibacter columnaris, with multiple rapid deaths i'd certainly consider this a possibility.
Always keep in mind you could have 1-to-'umpteen' illnesses in your tank.
Worms protruding from a fishes anus would be camallanus.
What did you treat with after/during the big wipe-out? Have you got a link to the old topic?

i'd say columnaris as well.

I know it sounds gross but pictures of infected/dead fish would help with diagnosis.

hiya-haven't had any dead ones since that post- i was in major panic because of what happened last time- the boy seems to be bloated- he had a poo but it was quite yellow-after that death as a precaution i moved him into a tank with no other fish and left his part of the tank in case there were any girls that needed seperating because of being picked on.

At the moment all the girls look healthy and are pooing normally. My water stats are also fine- ammonia 0 Nitrtie 0 and nitrate in the range of 20.

I started to treat for whitespot as one of the fish had the spots-must say that again i was in a panic and probably didn't help the situtation.

I don't think we will have another death but if we do i'll take a pic. TBH they don't look any different. Just white mainly with a bit of colour left depending on how long they had been dead for.

Most of the fish had no symptoms at all and no stress stripes/signs of discomfort before death.

update: after hooking out one of the last girls that didn't look to good it appeared to me that it may well be columnaris. She's still alive after two weeks but she was hiding a lot so i couldn't get a good look at her. How do I go about treating it?

I think the best medication in this instance is probably eSHa 2000.

thanks CFC-just gonna find it. Might be able to get Modaz to order me some
