Well it now appears the flicking from one of my fish is down to whitespot,I can see the white spots on 2 of my black mollies now.

I went out and got some treatment this morning Do I remove the filter in my fluval 2 first? I was going to do a waterchange first and clean the gravel well then when Ive topped the water up then remove the filter from the fluval 2,turn up the heater then add the whitespot treatment is that right??

Also how long do I need to keep the filter sponge out for??

OK, sorry i didn't notice you had no replies to this. If you post in emergencies then Wilder should help you and he knows his stuff. I would do a 50% water change first, no real need to clean the gravel unless its filthy (this shouldn't have anything to do with ich, but you don't want any NO2 to add to your problems). Up the temp to 80-83F and add a air stone. (oxygen levels need to be increased as higher temp take O2 out of the water at a faster rate)

What do you mean by 'remove your filter'? Deffinately don't remove your filter, if it has a black (carbon) sponge inside then remove that but leave the other sponges in and keep the filter running at all times.

OK so you can start using your Ich treatment as it says on the bottle - I personally use King British WS3 and it has worked a charm but there are many reiable white spot treatments out there. Remeber to keep medicating for the whole period specified, i medicate longer than the bottle states in serious cases.

Best of Luck,

Jonny.
