Oh Come On!

I hate forums where when you first register you can only post stuff in the "newbie" thread! *sigh* well I'll just have to post stuff about my betta fish here then.

Well, I'm PhoenixFire and I bought a betta fish, I've always thought they looked beautiful and a great pet to have.

I only had one betta in the past and its' name was "Jaws" that's right...Jaws.

It died after a few years (NATURALLY!!!!!) so all I had left was my dog

So now today I decided to get a new fish so I went to Petco and bought a male betta fish (they sell females there too if there any any breeders here) that resembles the most like Jaws.

Well I got one and they almost look identical! Red fins, black body.

So yeah, I bought a plastic fish bowl did all the stuff (cleaning the bowl and rocks, letting the fish get used to it, etc.) and let it go inside.

So that's all taken care of and now I have some questions:

1. What should i start feeding it right now? I...can't find the fish food for the old betta so right now I...use crunched up cereal flakes >_<

2. any tips on making him to well, live long etc.?

3. What should I name him? I'm thinking of naming him Jaws again like my old fish but i could take different suggestions too.

You are right, bettas are lovely pets to have...

I dont think a betta will eat cereal though.. Do you have any fish flakes??

To answer your questions:

1. Hikari Betta Bio-Gold Pellets, Freeze-Dried Blood Worms, HBH Betta Colorbright Flake Food, Wardley Premium Betta Food, Tetra Bettamin Tropical Medley and so many more choices.

Check out these sites if you can order things online.... Pet Discounters They have great discounts on food and aquarium supplies.

2. Be sure to add a heater to your tank for him if you can. This will help with less temperature fluctuations and cause him less stress and make him less suseptible to sickness.

You can feed everyday but try to skip a day, this allows him to digest his food fully. And allows for less constipation problems.
