So two days ago I did some cleaning in the livebearer tank, mainly to get those danios out of the tank, since im expecting..... dun dun dun...... MORE platy fry! From the same female, she has ALOT more dots in her this time! So anyways, I took out all the plants and did a little gravel cleaning and so on, and the official count is..... 8 platy babies (one more than I had thought) and 2 guppy babies, unfortunatly. But I think the guppy will be having more again soon. Every single baby looks just like momma platy, and the guppies, of course are just grey right now, hopefully I will get some pretty males out of the two lol.
The baby platy fry are roaming the tank like they own the place now. They have no fear of the bigger fish, and are too big to be eaten now. They are so adorable, even there little "messes" are cute cuz its so tiny, I know that sounds wierd, but im a first time mom here! (Or grandma)

I seperated the rainbow platy (the one that gets ignored and chased and bullied all the time) from the others for about a week or so, and put her back in, and now they "love" her. The males are frisky towards her now, and not mean, so im hoping maybe for some babies from her, and the blue spotted platy female, and my blue female (Oh I do hope)

I found people to take the babies (a locally owned pet store) when they are old enough, which is about 3 months correct?
I cant wait to see what genders I get! Welp, thats my update!

Congrats!

3 months is when they become sexable, usually. Some LFS want them with good coloring, others will take them earlier. It's best to ask your LFS, and see what their policy is.

Yeah I guess I should ask her when she could take them. I dont want to give them to her too young though, and I am thinking that 3 months is a good time if thats when they are sexable, cuz I want to keep a female baby from the bunch, if there are any. (Platies that is)
As for the guppy fry, my boyfriend wants to feed them to our Oscar (which I dont want to) if they are female and ugly gray colored when they get older. I dont think we will be doing that, who knows.
