1. Water parameters. (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, PH, temp', Hardness etc) - ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 10, PH 8, temp 25C
2. A full description of the fishes symptoms. - Appears to have scrapped some scaling down one side, ballooned up and also on the same side, the remaining scales look lifted.
3. How often you do water changes and how much. - 30-50% weekly
4. Any chemicals and treatments you add to the water.
5. What tank mates are in the tank. - only ever prime
6. Tank size. - 100g
7. Finally Have you recently added any new fish? - No tank established as such for quite sometime, the stocking is 6 odessa barbs, 6 neons and a fahaka puffer

My oddessas are pretty greedy guts and pretty large for their size but this particular one has a scrap, scales sticking out on the one side and ballooned, I am thinking dreaded dropsy or infection?

From what I can see none of the others have any of these symptoms, though I am going to get my partner to check. I know there will be concerns on the fahaka causing the initial "wound" but believe me the way it is this looks like scrapping and then something else..

I have tried to get a pic but no luck yet, will keep trying, what do we think to treat? Unsure if clean water will cut it this time..

Here are some pics:

poor thing. Not looking good i'm afraid.

All you can do is isolate and add some epsons salts, and bacterial med.

Get a magifying glass to see if you can see anything under the lifted scales. Like lumps or parasites.
