Hi, i was feeding my fish this morning when one of my old large Cory's came into view.
The tank is heavily planted and has plenty of caves and driftwood so I havent seen any of my corys in about a week. The largest cory had 3 huge fluffy white almost tumor looking things on him. One on his head, one on his back and one on his side. No other specks or bumps. Just the three, but they were very large. Could it be ick? It looked a bit too big to be ick, but I don't know what else it can be. No other fish in the tank show any signs of it.

I did have 2 blonde algae eaters in the tank up till last week when they were removed because of aggresiveness and put in their own tank with a betta. (They get along fine, go figure). So, I wonder of a possibility that the algae eater didnt attack the cory and the white lumps are wound areas.

Also, in the past 2 weeks I have had an odd gel slime with a little fluff here and there spread in a patch amongst my dwarf grass. I vacced it last week, and it came back, so I vacced again this week, so far it has not returned. My lps said it sounded like snail eggs. (but didnt try to sell anything to me.).

This morning I noticed 2 leaves of a larger plant has small patches of white dots here and there on the leaves.

So, basically I am completely out of my depth here and extremely worried about my tanks eco-system collapsing soon.

Tank is fully planted, 2 pieces drift wood, clay pottery caves and some man made caves. Temp is around 78 degrees to 80. Ph is 7.2. Filters- Fluval cannister with UV steralizer plumbed inline, a BioWheel filter on the opposite side. Substrate is laterite layered over with black tahitian sand. No recent fish additions, or plants. Tank has been stable with out any changes in decor or stock for 3 months. 25% water changes weekly, Flourish and Flourish iron for ferts. Regular Tetra flakes, with a variety of treats occassionally (brine shrimp, blood worms, tubiflex, and Green disk wafers for bottom feeders.

Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you

Do the lumps looks like cauliflowers.

Yes, that would actually be a very good description. I just got back to work from lunch and I stopped by to check on them. The one Cory is the only one in the tank with this. All the rest of the fish are healthy and swimming aound in their shoals. The cories hide most of the time now, when they used to be very active during the day. They are rather large and fat looking now. Maybe old age? And somekind of skin tumor?

Thanks,
Sadly that is what it looks like. I guess I have alot of cleaning to do tonight and set up my hospital aquarium.

Sorry, not nice, good luck.

Update- Oddly enough, after nearly uprooting all my plants and resorting to netting all my Corys, I finally got the sick one in the hospital tank. The odd thing is that yesterday morning, 3 lumps. Last night after netting, only 1 was there and its at the spot where his dorsal fin meets his back on the backside. I just turned up the heat and added some aquarium salt, about 1/2 dose and am going to see what happens.
Thanks for the replys Wilder. It got me on a track to finding some good info I was not aware of.
