Odd Platy Behavior

My Male Platy is social with all of my fish (Platys and Swords) but when it comes to breeding and feeding time he acts a little funny. Whenever I feed my fish they come up as soon as I lift the hood up. But my Male Platy stays down and eats whatever the fish drop. He also doesn't seem to want to breed either. The funny thing is that he's perfectly healthy and swimming everywhere except when I feed them. Do you think something is wrong?

Dose not sound like a problem to me, he's just shy to eat in the open.

It could be an defencive thing as in nature if u feed out in the open there's more chance a predatory bird or animal eating you.

What about the breeding thing? SHould I introduce another male for competition?

There should be no need to introduce another male into a tank.
