Hello all

I recorded 2 videos - one of my black sailfin molly. The other of my dalmation molly. The black is a male and the dalmation is a female. I was wondering if someone could point out what the heck - if anything - is wrong by these videos. The first - of my black sailfin - is just because he swims too darn fast when im near the tank thinking it's food time so I couldn't take just a picture  I have no idea why photobucket rotated the videos..my appologies for sore necks

I started this tank up about a month ago. It's a 10 gallon. I have the black sailfin molly, dalmation molly, and a female platy. Currently going through cycling..here's my stats:

Ammonia: .25 ppm (lowest I can go at the moment...ammonia readings in my tap water)
NitrIte: 0 ppm
NitrAte: Inching up on 5 ppm
PH: 7.6 ppm

Edit!: While staring at my sailfin I noticed my platy has the same...clear fin effect. Also some redness(bottom near his tail fin..best pic I could get)/bloating? Or is that natural colour?

First up my sailfin. Note the clear parts on his back fin/clear dots in his top large fin. He also looks like he gasps for air. The 2 others seem fine for air. He is very active and eats like a pig! Anything I should be weary of? Im buying an airstone soon. Edit: upon close inspection..some of his scales look dark grey..in patches. And when he opens his mouth, I see white clear stringy stuff?

Sailfin

Second is my dalmation. She looks fine, but she spends alot of time swimming up and down the tank against the wall. My platy does this sometimes also. The sailfin will chase her sometimes...could that be the problem? But it dosnt explain the platy  . Is this...odd behavior?

Thanks for your patience on my 10 million questions, and for looking!

Doesn't worry me too much.
My fish swim up and down the aquarium walls all the time. I find they do that when they're stressed out or anxious about something.
The transparency on the fins is kind of weird...
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what that could be....
But I've heard of mollies changing color, so your molly may just be changing color.
I would still be concerned about it though.
As for the gasping at the waters surface, as long as you provide enough oxygenation, and your tank is cycled, it should be nothing to worry about.
But, test your water, just in case.
Good luck! :good:

How close to the tank are you when you observe the molly swimming up and down the tank wall? Mine do this a lot when I am near the tank (not when I am away from it though) cos they seem to like chasing my mag float round the glass so your molly might just be interested in what you are doing lol.
