Fish Addict
So I dropped by the mall petstore today randomly and to my shock DWARF PUFFERS! I had been searching for them for 6 months or so now. With my 10 gallon had lost my DP a few weeks back I snatched up 3 of the little guys. I had a single molly with some oto in there since then but I wanted to keep the cycle going. So I moved the Molly back into the 30 gallon and all the males went wild and starting mating with her...more on that later. Anyways the DP seem to be doing good except one looks very very skinny. I sexed them and it seems to be 2 females for sure and perhaps 1 male (didnt see any line across stomach but his color is a little different). I fed bloodworms asap to make sure they where eating and the works where to big for them so after work I fed sme Tubafix works and they ate those. They seem fine and arnt fighting so I feel confident so far.
Now for the big problem. As of right now I seem to have 2 Pregnant Molly, 2 pregnant Platy and 1 Pregnant Bloodfin...I sexed the Platy at time of purchase and all looked female buuut seems I was wrong. Also the 2 male and 1 female Molly are the kids of the other molly so I am worried about there inbreeding. If that wasn't enough they now seem to be acting weird. The 2 male molly seem to stop at random intervals and face nose up and float like a fish that has recently died buut then regain composure and swim normally. I haven't seen this before but my girlfriend says she has seen it before. The 2 female randomly swim in spot for long periods but I am guessing they are preparing to give birth??? Also all Molly are doing random flicking movements. The Males show some odd scaling but dont show signs of ick (or any other fish). The platy seem fine except for the male which just sits in one spot and doesn't move much. Bloodfins and rest of stock seem fine.
I will set up an extra 10 gallon that's bare and move the Platy and Molly inside till they birth and then move back to main tank. I also may buy some plastic plants for them to hide in.
Opinions of situation? Tank stats seems fine and temp in both are around 80-82F.
