Hello, I just got a couple of Octicinclus bottom feeders. I guess they are in the catfish family, is that right? Other than some algae that is around the tank, what else can I give it? I do have a cory cat and I feed it sinking wafers, I give it half a wafer per day. The wafer package says it's good for any kind of catfish, loach or bottom feeder. Is it okay? Should I be feeding them anything else? Thanks

Correction: The name of the fish in question is an "Otocinclus"

I don't think Otos are bottom feeders as such . I have never seen mine feeding on the bottom they are usually on the plants or walls of the Tank. As far as i know they only eat Algae.

Pick up some algae wafers they have everything herbivores like otos need in their food. Also, treat them with a slice of cucumber or squash every now and then.

Thanks. I havn't really seen them on the bottom either, mainly on the Rock that WAS covered in algae.

If I put a cube of brine shrimp in the tank and there some on the bottom left I've seen my Otto's eat some. I do provide some sort of algae wafer, but I try to keep an eye out if they eat any brine shrimp when I feed that so I know I don't have to feed them a wafer that day.
