Well I got home from my 3 week outing in Rome to find that 2 of my Lamprologus occellatus females were guarding shells full of babies!! This has been the greatest thing about comming home. I love watching the little fry scurry about, and watching the proud parents take excellent care of them.

When the parents are through with their duties and the occellatus fry are a bit older, should I put them in a separate tank or breeding net? Or will they be fine in the general population of the tank?

All the best,
Lee

Snuff-- you really want some? When they get a little older then. How many do you want and are you willing to pay out some $$ for shipping and stuff?

Hey snuff-- I PM'd you back about your other Q's. I just gotta tell you though, My Ocellatus's are really incredible specimens -- much higher quality than any pet-store ocellatus I've ever seen. I have counted, so far, about 20 fry. I'm not going to be giving them to a pet store--just selling them off privately. I'll be doing some research on the logistics of shipping live cichlids, so If you are comfortable with me shipping them to you, I'll add you to the list of buyers. So far I have 4 buyers.

All the best,
Lee

Congrats Exiled! They'll be fine with the parents for quite a while, you'll be able to tell when they are too big and aggression becomes a concern.

Snuff, fish are shipped all the time with very minimal losses. As long as Exiled does it properly, which is something I wouldn't worry about if I were ordering from her, then there will most likely be no problems. Heck, I'd add myself to the list if I wasn't in a different country.

Congratulation Exiled :D
