which ocean nutrition flake foods should i get for my rosy barbs and male krib?

i can't decide among the formula one, formula two, and community formula.

I dont use flake food as such. I use tetra pro crisps, fish seem to prefer it and it seems to last longer without turning to mush and therefore causes less ammonia if you over feed.

Those are saltwater fish foods.
formulas one and two are saltwater fish foods, but can be fed to freshwater fish too, according to the label.

the community formula is a freshwater fish food.

i want to try a better brand than the usual and common tetra brand. i've already tried omega one and think it has too many fish bones in the flakes.

Formula one and formula two are the most common flake foods fed to saltwater fish because of their nutritional value. If it's that nutritious for SW fish then it can't be that good for FW fish. The community formula's ingredients:

A fresh seafood mix including Salmon fillets, Euphausia Pacific Plankton, Squid, Salmon Eggs and/or Salmon Egg Oil, Euphausia Superba Plankton and/or Krill Hydrolysate, Sea Clams, Kelp, Herring, Adult Brine Shrimp and Brine Shrimp (nauplii), MPAX [Marine Protein Amino eXtract: Fish Meals, Hydrolysate, and Select Amino Acids (Arginine, Histidine, Isoeucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Cystine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan, and Valine], Wheat Flower, Corn Meal, Egg, Lecithin, Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Sulfate, Vitamin Premix [Ascorbic Acid, Stabilized Vitamin C, dl-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate, d-Pantothenic Acid, Riboflavin, Niacin, Menadione, Folacin, Cholecalciferol, Biotin, Thiamin, Retinol, Pyrdoxine, and Cyanocobalamin], Carotenoid Pigments [Canthaxanthin and/or Astaxanthin], Artificial Color, and Preservative [Ethoxyquin].

A lot of ingredients are more suited to saltwater fish...
Feeding a little bit to freshwater fish wouldn't hurt, but there's definately better foods out there for FW fish.

Hi celaeno :)

I've been using Ocean Nutrition flake foods for several years and have had excellent luck with them. You might know that I have mostly Corydoras catfish, and feed them a high protein diet. I usually give them Brine Shrimp Plus, but they like Formula One too.

I also feed my corys live blackworms and Hikari wafers or spirulina discs to round out their diet. Whatever flake food you choose, be sure to add whatever other items are necessary to ensure your fish receive all the nutrition their particular species require. It might be possible, but I doubt you will find one product to do it all. :D
