does anyone here use oak leaves in their tanks? (to lower pH, better environment etc etc)
if so, where did you get them from? and how did you prepare them so there was no nasties getting transferred into your tank?

I've used oak and other kinds of leaves in my tank, all you have to do is boil them for about 15-20 minutes and all the yuckies are gone. I usually just go pluck mine from the neighbors tree :shifty:
I don't use them so much for altering PH or anything, I've just found that it looks really natural plus the fish all seem to love them. I would guess it probably mimics a more natural environment for them.
I know bettas in particular go crazy when they have a leaf to bubblenest under, mine to go to town!

Try Indian Almond Leaves instead.
