I apologize. I didn't see that in your original post. I had a snail problem, and I ended having to break down my tank (my fish were upgrading anyway) as I couldn't keep up with the reproduction. I heard on another post that you can fast your fish for a couple of days and give the gravel a good cleaning with the siphon everyday. The snails cannot thrive if they have nothing to eat. After a day or 2 of fasting, feed them very little. Most booming snail populations happen due to overfeeding. I know that is how we ended up with such a big problem......t this day my husband still doesnt know how to feed the fish....lol

haha, men :p
i will try that thanks :)
for future refference- as in if i fail :p- how would i heat and filter the plastic tub?

The plastic tub should work fine. I use a 30 gallon plastic tote for my fish when I need to move a tank. I don't think the heater rests on the tote. The suction cup holds it away from the side a little. When I'm trying to get all of the snails in one place to remove them, I drop an algea wafer right in the front. Within an hour it is completely covered.

Can you use the media from it and into the 55l filter. If not, and the 55l filter is not cycled, you will have to do alot of water changes to battle the ammonia.

the 55 L filter has some of the main filters media-the smaller sponge and about 5 ceramic tubes- , and has been running in my tank with that for about 2-3 weeks now :)

Just remove everything and thouraly wash and scrape tank buy new gravel ect. Put fish in quarantine tank or in my case a five gallon bowel and save 25% of water then add back everything and the snails are gone. Make sure you rinse plants before they goin yer tank :good: :good: :good:

Last night was the second night without feeding. i will now start feeding very little tonight and see how i go, i think i might do the whole tank clean still, but i might not have to :)
thanks all :good:
