Ok so basically have a tube go into the catch bottle all the way to the bottom and then have another tube going into the tank, I noticed you said you put zeolite in your tank, mine's in my room also should I need to worry about this? Would a 20oz. bottle be ok for a catch bottle or a 2 litre be better or a 1quart gatorade bottle, because that's all I have right now, guess I could go and get a 1litre bottle if it's absolutely necessary.

O so if I use DIYco2 I will have an alcohol smell, if so I think my parents will be pretty mad, where do you get zeolite?

O and with the catch bottle it should take longer for the co2 bubbles to start coming up right?

Do you need a catch bottle if you have a check valve, I wouldn't think so but can somebody cleaify things for me?????

Ok so I'll make a catch bottle for sure and add another cup and a half of sugar to the present mixture and fill the bottle up with warm water until it starts curving, and the teaspoon of baking soda I added should take care of the smell. two questions, is the process I just mentioned OK and is it still ok for me to add those ingredients even I made the mixture two days ago, like is it ok to open the bottle up?

Thanks

Austin

When you mix the mixture you dissolve the sugar and water but do you mix the yeast or do you just pour it in??? Need to know.

i use some hot water to melt the sugar down then add cold to the mix to get a warm mix. Mix your yeast into a paste with warm water (not hot it will kill the yeast). Then add to sugar mix. Bicarb can be added if you have a low kh. This helps prolong the yeast in your mix as it acts as a ph buffer.(yeast is intolerant too high acidity)

For a diffuser could you just poke a bunch of holes in airline tubing with a needle for a temporily diffuser, or would that not be better than an airstone or tubing in filter?

If you poke holes in the airline tubing, it doesn't guarantee tiny bubbles. That may sound like a good idea for temporary use. Tell us how it goes, we are always looking for ways to create tiny bubbles

Would be better to use a fine air stone on the end of the tubing, something like this

air stone

Or the equivalent, most shops have these, it should produce smaller bubbles, but I wouldn't use it for very long it wont be able to replace a decent diffuser.

Ive not used these myself and I can't be sure they'd work with yeast type CO2 but wort a try only a couple of quid from your LFS.

I still don't have any bubbles after 48 hrs.

2 cups sugar
1 package yeast
1 teaspoon baking soda

with a catch bottle. I mixed the sugar and yeast in warm water together, could this be the problem. Sorry for all the questions but once I figure it out a lot of my friends will try it so I'll be able to help them. Yes I'll try to get a proper diffuser as soon as possible.
