I have one of the above on a PFK cube.
It has been running great with the pinned recipe, but today I notice the bubbles are not going up the ladder, but coming out of the tube and going straight to the top.

Does this mean it's time to refill ?
It's been running about two weeks.

TIA

Peter

Probably means the tube has popped out of the holder or something is blocking the bubbles. Bubbles means it isn't needing changing yet.

It turned out to be a rampaging gang of snails, who were promptly removed and fed to my Clown Loaches in my big tank

I use 2 Nutrafins with the same amount sugar but ½ teaspoon of yeast.

They are linked to a gang valve which means I can close one of before emoving without the other needing to stop.

I change one EVERY wednesday and the other EVERY Saturday. both after lights out so they can get producing again ready for the lights on.

Problem with leaving them for too long before changing is that you need to keep the CO2 consistent and therefore leaving it for 2-3 weeks it will be not producing too much at the end and then when you refill after 1 day it will be blasting away.

I think 1 week is best IMO (I used to leave it 2 alternating 1 this week and 1 next but noticed my drop checker going blue, so I changed to every week)

The type of yeast you use will also affect how long the mixture will last. Wine making yeast has a higher alcohol tolerance and so it will last longer than ordinary bread making yeast.

I think I'll try some of that when my "Allinsons'" runs out.
Thanks voo
