yeah my thoughts exactly. sounds like too much yeast to me.

i use 1/2 teaspoon yeast, sugar to first fins and (for low KH water) 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda.

mix it all up, leave to stand for 5 mins and screw on the lid. mine doesn't seem to froth much at all but i recall in the warmer months i did have a few overflows into the tank but i honestly dont know the cause. i was also experimenting with different mixes at the same time.

Wha type/make of yeast do you use.

I use Allisons and add just over 1/2 teaspoon. I found with 1/2 tsp i could only achieve 20-25ppm. With just over 1/2 tsp i find i can get 30ppm dropping to 25 by the end of the week.

Maybe its just me and the horthorn effect, but i`m sure thats what happens. This allisons yest isn`t great tho, i find it sticks in clumps at the bottom!

jimboo, are u not pressurised?

Chris

Try mixing the yeast in a cup of warm water first. Mix into a paste then add to your sugar mix.

where did you hear that my friend lol...

sorry chris. i have 2 tanks, one pressurised and one yeast based. i use allinsons yeast as well (orange tin) as RYO said mix it in a glass first to dissolve it (you can see through the base of a glass and can make sure you've got it all in solution) B)
