Is this any good?

Have got some credit to spend with an online store, and they do this kit. It's quite a lot cheaper than the other ones they do, but noway am I spending £100 plus on it

I don't have many live plants, but the ones I do have aren't exactly flourishing. I keep forgetting to add the liquid Co2, and have my T5 lights on for quite a few hours every day, so the amazon sword is going see-through brown.

If you can't keep an amazon sword alive nutrafin kit won't help you  Just kidding :look:

No one really recommends these things as they are unstable and help algae growth. My swords doing really well but I dose easycarbo and TPN+ daily.

I wouldnt worry, I seem to grow everything like a weed atm, apart from amazon swords

Mine, go limey green, then browny marks on them and then go really thin, and then start going brown. I dont know why, so Ive given up on them :look:

Ive seen mixed reviews on that product, I say have a go, why not, it wont hurt :fun:

I had 2 running on my 50g a while back and it made no difference at all. They are ok for small tanks.

 it is alive and growing, but some of the leaves have gone brown which isn't very nice. The crypts are doing the best actually, nice little plants, oh and the lillies.

How does this kit encourage algae?

Not sure if it makes any difference, but I've recently added a powerhead for extra circulation. Will this make things better for the plants?

Just pull of the leaves as soon as they start dying as they won't repair themselvs... If its a relatively new plant it will shed its outer leaves anyway.

Extra circulation will help provide an equal amount of nutrients throughout the whole aquarium so yup.

Well if its anything like the other DIY kits, the amount of co2 produced isn't consistant and the plants wouldn't be able to take in amounts that keep varying whereas algae can. Like Ian said it made no difference anyway. I think he had more sucess with easycarbo..

yeah, Easycarbo is the way foward if ya not gonna do pressurised.
