okay so i have my first pair of blue rams [male and female] yesterday and they are doing really well! I love them!

but when i came home i saw that the female had dug a perfect hole on the sand by moving her body accross the sand...and now ive caught the male doing it just now :S

Ive been looking online about this but i can find anything!

could anyone tell me whats going on?

I can take pictures if no one knows what i mean! lol

thanks

ooooooo

MAYBE! just maybe, you might have a pair about to lay eggs!

they are trying to clean the area, then she will rub to release them.

oh brilliant!

I thought that it was really hard to breed them?

Bless them theyve only been together for nearly 2 days =]

are they monogomous?

I dont know much about the breedig proceedure! any help is appriciated =D

well

they can be tough, but im having a hell of a time trying to find a pair :( you seem to be lucky!

If you don't mind be asking, are they being territorial? Are they colored up nicely? is the females belly nice and plump?

GOOD LUCK! :D

i guess so!

not being territorial but theyve claimed the empty sauce jar that we put in there for the whiptails in the corner as their own and nothing really goes near it!

the female has a bright pink belly and is getting a little round, she also has what looks like a little tube coming out of her?

i guess there is always a chance of having the eggs eaten, are they good parents? if so i guess they would defend their young? or maybe i could remove the jar is parental care isnt needed

thanks though :D

that tube is egg tube  wow, congrats!

they will eat them the 1st few times, but they get better ;)

You should expect them to fail the first couple times, either eating their eggs or fry(if they dont then thats a bonus) it will take them a couple trys to get spawning right usually, but once they do they are great parents, they will protect the fry from other fish. If you are looking at growing out the fry you will need to hatch some baby brine shrimp for them to eat.
