Please help me!! I thought I was doing so well. I know I have read things on here about other people and their problems with tail/fin rot, but now for the life of me, I can't remember what the treatments were. What causes this? I am trying to keep his water so clean. He has a whole about the size of a pencil eraser in his tail.

:shout: ????

Not knowing, just guessing, I'm assuming the veil tail is a betta. Sounds like it could be columnaris, a picture of your fish would help.

Can't get a good picture. Gosh, I've heard such bad things about columnaris. Please help me save him!!!

First do a search on this site for columnaris, see if any of the pictures resemble the problem your fish is having. If it is columnaris, Maracyn is commonly available for treating this.
