Think Fish Review:
East Midland Aquatics is a relatively new shop, having been opened for just under two years. The shop, although not huge, is continually expanding and has plenty to offer. On the marine side there are six four foot invert aquaria stocked with hundreds of corals and a good selection of marine fish. Marines are certainly the shops specialist area and because the shop imports their livestock, you can get hold of pretty much anything. All the livestock is quarantined and healthy, and corals or live rock can even be sent out by courier. Tim Singer, the shops owner is a long time hobbyist and believes in providing sound advice whilst Jamie Biddulph, who is on site most days, is a previous Tropical Fish contributor and has an academic background in biology, so you can be assured of good advice. The outdoor section houses a range of pond livestock, including some nice koi at the time of visiting, as well as water features and equipment, and is currently under expansion. The shop is also planning a comprehensive website offering advice and mail order, as well as a customer helpline.

East Midlands Aquatics are now stocking a wide range of Tropical Freshwater fish including a good selection of soft water species.

Hey, I just added you to MSN to make life easier, but it seems you're not online. I've visited about 20 fish shops in nottingham (roughly) and I can give you a rough run down of the most memorable.

Wharf Aquatics is by far and wide, my favourite fish store of all time. All of my current fish were bought there, as was all the equipment. Everything was reasonably priced, and the advice given to me was superb. They have every fish you can imagine there, and more. Including bizarre oddballs, giant predators, right the way down to assorted L-numbers and tetras and everything in between. It's by far the best store I have ever been to, ever.

There is a store called "Lovejoys" in Radford, which I've been to. I bought my first pair of goldfish there, and they had lice (I was totally new to the hobby at this point). I wouldn't recommend this store, nor its limited selection of fish.

Nottingham has a branch of pets at home which similarly, I would never buy livestock from. The untrained staff offer poor to terminal advice, and the fish are kept inappropriately (CAE's in with fancy goldfish I ask you?!). They're very near to me however, and they're convenient for emergency bits and bobs. The filter prices are quite competitive too.

In town you have 1 store I think, called Kayes. I used to shop there a fair bit, until they started selling ID sharks, and they sold a piranha to a 12 year old (ish) lad who clearly wasn't bothered about it's habitation needs. I've since stopped going to the store. That and the fact some yobs were in there last time I went, causing trouble, and the staff (not very knowledgable)did nothing. Some of the younger staff have a reasonable knowledge, but no one is superb really.

In Bulcote there is an excellent store, the name of which I forget. It has beautiful tanks filled with marine to tropical to coldwater and everything in between, and the prices seemed very reasonable. It is quite a job to get to though! But they do offer a very vast amount of fish, and some of their display tanks are incredible holding large turtles or Oscars. I really liked this store.

In Bulwell there is a small family owned store which has marines, but other than that, nothing sticks out in my mind. Average.

Nottingham World of Water is quite a decent store, offering large cichlids and a few oddballs (puffers) as well as giant outdoor koi. It's a good store that price matched my first tank for me, and delivered it. Recommended.

That just about wraps it up! Any more troubles, I've added you to MSN!
