Nother Name For An Algae Eater?

Chinese Algae Eater, Siamese Algae Eater, Oto, some shirmps are algae eaters

If you see a fish simply labelled algae eater, this is likely to be the Chinese Algae Eater (gyrinocheilus aymonieri), which is related to the loaches.

I guess this is technically true, but they are just as closely related to carps and minnows. They're not that closely related to loaches despite their other common name.

if you see anything simply labelled as 'algae eater' get a positive ID on it before you buy it!!

there's hundreds of fish it could be ranging from entirley suitable ones staying at around 3/4" to big aggressive monsters.

don't buy anything with that name unless you are 100% sure what it is.
