my tiger barbs aren't schooling they just sit in one spot all day. so some of them are getting picked on by my scissortail rasboris. help me get them to school please

How many do you have?

Also how long has the tank been cycled? Size of tank also please? Tiger barbs dont usually sit in one place, its unusual for them not to be zooming all around the tank.

3 scissortails

3 tiger barbs

other fish
2 red claw crabs
1 bamboo shrimp
3 ghost shrimp

been cycled aout 2 months

10 gal tank I don't have many fish because I know it is a small tank

Tiger barbs would appreciate a larger group of 6+, however as you say the tank is small. Personally I wouldnt put TB's in a 10g as they do like a lot of swimming space. If possible I would take them back, as they do not appear to be happy and add to the scissortail group.

will they let me return them i've had them for a bout 1 and 1/2 months

I would expect so, although dont expect your money back for them. If not, put an ad on buy/sell/swap for them, your should get someone interested.

but i would still like to have atleast one other kind of fish in the tank is they any that would compatable with the scissortails

halfbeaks and a dwarf puffer:)

see if your LFS will give you store credit for you TBs. When i did this i got more money in store credit than what i paid for the fish.

do you know of a place that i could buy dwarf puffers my LFS only sells green spotted puffers and I think they eat other fish

I just returned a dwarf puffer. I was told they only nip smaller fish. However mine tried to bite everything and it completely destroyed my shrimp. I would not get a puffer their trouble unless your in a larger tank or with species only maybe? But again I did have to and it killed the other one so again their treachourous. Deffo don't have them with shrimp!

I think your original question has been answered but from what little I have read about red claw crabs, they could be a danger to your shrimp (or possibly the pygmy corys someone suggested) and need a way to get out of the water into the air. They also seem to love to climb and if there are any openings in your cover, will most likely leave the tank. One article I read also said that you should only keep one as they can be very aggressive toward their own species. They are also best kept in brackish water. Bear in mind, this is only from what I have read and not from personal experience.
