Not Really A Marine Question But....copepods In Fw Tank?

Hi

I was doing my weekly water change today, and I found on the glass supports some Copepods, now I know from what I read its not harmful for my fish to have these little white fella's in the tank with them in fact its a extra food for them , but what i don't understand is that I thought these only ocurred with salt water tanks?

the tank was orignally a salt water tank about 4 months ago- could it be from there, and if so I thought they couldn't survive in freshwater?

Any advise on this would be helpful

I think i have seen them in freshwater. There is FW mussles and snails, so why not copepods?

Its wierd how they just "appeared"!! but its not too much of an issue
