:/ Has anyone had this problem before. My fish can't open it's mouth. It's a black skirted tetra. He can't eat just goes up to nose the food. He doesn't struggle or anything and you can see that he moves something in his mouth but unlike my other tetra who does open its mouth not just to eat. Look at my signature for what fish I have in the tank.

I have my adults in the 25 gal and the babies in the 10 gal.

It's heartbreaking.

Oh Yeah, I checked my levels and they are fine. I don't remember what they were but they were fine.

mmm i really dont know, im just posting so u dont think people are ignoring u, someone with more knowledge will be along soon!
sorry about ur fishy : (

How long has he been like this, any red or sores or stringy fungus or fluff on the mouth.

I noticed it about 3 days ago. Nothing like that on the mouth at all. I have checked on the body, seems to become a little slimmer I think but no red spots, fungus, etc. With that I would have been able to treat it. But I am completely stumped.

He's going thinner as he can't eat, sorry i don't no what to tell you to do, has he banged it and fractured his jaw.
If he can' eat as you know he won't survive.

I was afraid of that. :-( It breaks my heart to see this. It's very sad.

Sorry bless him.

mabye he somehow broke his jaw....I cant really give anymore advice srry
Hope he recovers

YAY I saw my tetra eat food. I have been making it really small, just like I do for the babies and he seems to be able to get food into his mouth. I have noticed that he still plays and he doesn't look sick. So I think that he's going to be okay.
