Hi all, I thought i would re-introduce myself as its been a while.
I used to be on here alot, but circa 4 or so years ago, I got my first marine tank and the bug hit hard so i moved completely over to the salty side of life (and forums).
Now with 2 young kids and a busy work life, I have come back to the more sedate and less stressful tropical domain.
Don't get me wrong, i still love marines, and successfully kept (and even bred and sold on) many types of corals and fish, but the maintenance that is required (and cost!) was just too much for my right now.

My 2 by 1.5 by 1.5 was emptied of stock a couple of weeks ago, and is now in the process of being converted back to trops. I've bought a Tetra Tec 700 external (nice bit of kit) and got the tank filled yesterday. I'll leave ti running till next weekend or so, and then think about fish.
i have to say it is going to be nice to not having to worry about the slightest of shifts in parameters and just being able to sit back and enjoy all things tropical again!
Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Welcome back Rob!

What are you planning on stocking in this tank?   Might I suggest some cheap and hardy varieties to get you back in the swing?  Some of the loveliest fish sometimes get overlooked by some folks because they are too "common".  I find that my son is currently enthralled with ANY fish that I buy.  (He's 7.)  As he gets older, I think he will get more curious about more 'sensitive' species and I can move on to them and keep him interested.  If I had started with discus, then where would I have to move on to in the future?

A lovely display would be a planted tank with lambchop rasboras, your favorite corydoras species, and you could mix in a few other smaller groups or another shoaler.

cheers,
yes i went through alot of the weird and wonderful tropical species before going to marines, so have no real desire to do that just yet.
was thinking of harlequin rasboras, maybe guppies, and then a few cories, coolie loaches, and a few otocinclus to help keep any algae growth down.

Welcome back.
