Not Major But Need Help Quick

I have a load of anubias i'm putting on bog wood but i went to get my bog wood which has previously been in a tank full of giant african land snails and then thrown in a bucket in the garden and it now stinks as the water in the bucket has gone a bit smelly, can i just throw it in a pan of boiling water for half hour and then use it or am i screwed and gonna end up with floating anubias lol??

i'd put it in a salt bath and give it a good scrub! then maybe put it in a bucket for a couple of day, using tank water to cover it. Maybe a splash of ferts in there too to prime the wood? Well thats my opinion lol
