We are gathered here today in memory of the aquarium....
Its what brings us all here to this forum. But I notice quite a diverse people here.
So, what else do you do that you'd call a hobby?

For me, My only other passtime is karate....
And you...?

Films - I love watching dvds
Music - I love everything from heavy metal, jrock right through to classical, 50's rock n roll & jazz
video games - anything & everything goes

Those are my top 3 interests / hobbies after fishkeeping

Unfortunately, I had to go and choose the two most expensive hobbies there are- Fishkeeping and model building.

I do a lot of sci-fi models with the occaisional tank or boat tossed in. Currently working on a 1:144 scale Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer, a late production model.

1:144 is teeny-tiny. VERY SMALL. Itsy.

About the size of a quarter.

I do fishkeeping and model making too, although I haven't yet finished the first model, almost though! I also like Muse and Nintendo and Football and stuff.

This may not go down well.... but I'm a keen carp fisherman
As well as a seasen ticket holder for Plymouth Argyle

 oO(Is it me or are lasses getting prettier)Oo

Yep, makes it hard to read posts though when you keep getting distracted by the avatar pictures :)

That aside...

Other then fishkeeping my other hobbies are:
Music: I love pretty much all music except for most generic pop music. Some of the most played albums on my iPod at the moment are Natasha Beddingfield (no comment), Tapes n Tapes (great but pretty much unheard of band), Mark Ronsons - Version and various older prodigiy tracks.

Reading: Again fairly open to what I read as long as it is well written but prefer Sci-fi, fantasy or horror.

Photography and art: I'm no David Bailey by any stretch of the imagination but I do enjoy photography and have had a couple of my photos used commercially.

Computers and technology: I work as a technical manager and must admit I'm a bit of an electronics geek. The pic below says it all really...

So I'm either up to my elbows in my fish tank while listening to music, reading, messing about on my computers or outside driving and taking photos. :)

im into heavy metal majorly and also a warhammer 40k collector (i have 3 40k armys and 2 fantasy armys) im also a fisherman and on my visit to england i caught a small 3 1/2 pound pike in the river dee im also a strong "kiss it and let it go" person but i had to kill the poor little thing (wasnt happy)

youre so like my other half mark its scary. you should see our house, the 'office' is full of pc's screens and servers, then theres the laptops and media systems, the list goes on. hes even setting up a webcam for the fish tank :hyper: he also loves photography and has all the fancy equipment for that too.

My other hobbies i suppose are reading, walking, and visiting family and the dogs :) ( oh and my rat harvey ofcourse, hes my baby not really a hobby though!)

lol I was actually thinking of doing this as well when I get my big reef tank running and actually made some waterproof webcams that can go in the tank. :)

Love rats, they are interesting little critters and very inteligent but have never kept one myself. What kind of rat is it?

youve made some waterproof webcams? i'd love to buy one off you if youve got one spare. we were talking about getting one last night but didnt know how much they'd be. tbh though im sure if we got an underwater webcam all you'd ever see is yellow blurs as the guppys are so nosey theyd probably sit in front of it all day staring at it, either that or play chicken by daring each other to swim past. one got sucked into the syphon tube the other day, stupid things were playing chicken and kept swimming up to it then darting past, mark turned around to check how full the bucket was heard a slurping noise and saw a yellow thing shooting through the tube, it landed in the bucket and seemed to be quite pleased with itself, doesnt seem to have harmed itself

I dont know what type of rat harvey is, i think hes a cross between every type lol. hes gorgeous though, he has a black face and white chin with a white star in the middle of his forehead and the rest of his body is the pattern of a hooded rat. ive had lots before though and they are fantastic pets.

Wow! What's the spec on all of that? I dabble with computers myself, get it from my dad, he's always fiddling about with several computers, he keeps fish as well, like father like daughter lol. I built the pc I have at the mo as well as a friends and whenever something goes 'bang'(well not literally) I open it up and fix / replace it, I find it all very fascinating but I wouldn't call it a hobby. I also dabble in html & php coding but again that's just to get websites done and get paid not really for fun, sometimes it's very stressful, esp. when you know how something is done, you've done it hundreds of times before but for that split second you just can't think of it and get annoyed at yourself for being so silly when you remeber how easy it is(or maybe that's just me lol)

I've always wanted to keep rats sarah, they are so beautiful, over the years I've kept most rodents apart from rats, I almost got rid of lots of my fish so I could turn a tank into a rat home for the most beautiful, interesting, weird rats I've ever seen...hairless ones! They were £70 for the pair in the garden centre up the road from me, I so wish I'd have gotten them, will probably never get the chance again!

Family stuff mainly: Kids, Dog, Horse, Cat
Then there was Aikido (before I got arthritis) & Boats (before I got kids LOL)
Now I'm left with DVDs / AVI etc / Video encoding / converting blah blah
I am an electronics engineer, so electronic 'fiddlings' as my wife calls it...

Oh, & fish of course!
