In the pinned section, it says to get vegtables and all of that. Do I just get plants for them to eat on, or what is the cucumber stuff and how do you prepare it?

Just blanch a piece of cucumber or other veg (no peel) by steaming or boiling it until it is soft but not too soft. Let i cool and then chop it up a bit and place it in the tank. depending on the fish you can also use a vegetable clip and put the whole piece in that and watch them go at it. Bottom feeders and livebearers love it. HTH

You could also grow your own algae on rocks placed in a vat of tankwater placed in the sunlight.
