my mum wants to paint the hall where my fish tank is we were wondering what to do about fumes bearing in mind this tank is 27 gallons fully stocked and has been running for about 3 years i really dont want to strip it down its just about possible to move it half empty into the next room is this far enough, what do you guys do

any one have any experience in this people must repaint!

sorry if this is in the wrong area

Put a thick blanket over the tank, if you have a window open it to let the fumes out, and everything should be fine.

Justed painted my kitchen and i have never had any problems, good luck.

I'm going to have this problem when I paint my lounge, except I will have to move 2 tanks to paint behind them, that's why I have been putting off painting the lounge, I really dont look forward to moving a 4ft tank, the 2 ft tank isn't so bad ;)

Hi, you can buy paint that has no fumes. Haven't used it myself but I imagine it would be more expensive. :)

Latex paint has much less fumes than oil base. If you can open a windw & run a fan in it to bring in some fresh air they will do fine.

I painted my basement floor a few weeks back, opened a couple small windows & ran a couple fans. Kept the fishroom door closed & didn't do anything different than when I painted the walls. No casualties, but they were hungry due to the fact that I couldn't walk on the floor for a couple days.

That's a shame, I hate paint fumes myself! We will be decorating early next year, I don't expect we will buy the paint with less fumes because of the cost. We have a large area to decorate. I was interested to read that a 2ft tank isn't too bad to move. I have to move a 32" tank soon to put my bigger tank in it's place. Did you just slide it across the carpet?
