Normal Water Changes In A Planted Tank

Would you do regular water changes every 2 weeks or weekley with live plants? Of course there are fish in the tank

Depends on loads of factors. I use the EI plant fertilising method so I do a 50% change weekly. Before this I still did a weekly change but only ~25%.

I have been looking at setting up my tank differently in the next few weeks. This will mean that with a lot of plants and a substrate which gives out some nutrients, I will be able to go for 3-6 months without doing any water changes at all as the fish waste will feed the plants. The nitrates in the water will be consumed by the large mass of plants in the tank hence no need for weekly or even monthly water changes.

So if i have enough plants in my tank.. i wouldn't have to do water changes weekley or monthly? I am going to get alot of plants with plenty of fish of course for my 29 gal can't go with out fish lol to be safe i think i'll keep the water changes to every 2 weeks..
