I have a shrimp tank. The only time i get them to sit really still to use the magnifier on them is when they eating an algae wafer. And when they all eating on em they kick up a bunch of particles so this could simply be it landing on it. But i thought I'd ask. The shrimp all seem active and normal, no recent deaths. But this little one has some funky coloration going on and i know it don't always look like this. So you tell me, worry or it ain't nothing. Thanks

What colour are you referring to, the black or something else?

The greyish green on the head that runs down the middle of the back and scatters more into spots near the tail. Normally it's completely blue/ black

I can't really tell from the pictures. They are dark and I have turned my monitor's brightness right up but it still looks dark.

If the shrimp has changed colour recently, it could be an issue. But if it has always been that colour, it's nothing to worry about.

Most shrimp diseases affect the muscle under the shell, and cause the muscle tissue to turn cream or white. It's quite noticeable when you see it.

Sometimes shrimp get fungal or bacterial infections in their shell and this spreads and eventually kills the shrimp. These infections are also highly contagious and can wipe out entire tanks in a few weeks. However, if you haven't lost any shrimp in the last few months, and the shrimp are eating well and kept in a clean tank, it is unlikely to be an infection.

Monitor the shrimp and see of it changes. It might be a colour mutation that changes as the shrimp ages.
