Hi,

Have had my first fish for the last 10 days and noticed one of the Leopard Danio has started to 'bother' one of the Zebra Danios constantly chasing it and generally causing a nuisance. It tends not to take any notice of the Silvertip Tetra and Platys, so is this normal? The 2 Zebras and 2 Leopards were added to the tank at the same time.

How many Lepoard Tetras do you have in your tank? I am guessing that if there is not enough of them, as they should be kept in groups, they may get a little aggressive and do what you are describing. (Someone correct me if I am wrong)

Also, how big is your tank?

2 leopards and 2 zebras. My local shop said it was ok to mix so I have a group of 4 - they seem to get on ok with my single Silvertip tetra.
50 litre tank

Never heard of a leopard tetra. Do you mean leopard danio? As mentioned, keeping them in smaller groups will quite often lead to abnormal aggressive behavior.

Most danios can tend to be nippy when not kept in large enough groups. Increasing the colony should help spread the aggression.

My danios love to chase each other around, they never do any real damage but are continually swimming all around the tank. The bigger the group, probably the better, usually gets rid of one fish always being chased and bullied by the bigger fish.
