I am realy new to this and i was wondering how you partially change water during a fish cycle? I have a 10 gallon tank and i dont know if i add the dechlorinator after i place it in the tank? or before? or if i need to? please help me.

I tend to add mine in to the bucket im putting the water in and mix it up in there, then add it to the tank.

does that mean i should always have a big bucket nearby for water changes?

I always use 2 buckets, `1 for water changes (taking water out) and another for filling up m8

I do 20% water change everyweek on my tanks.

that makes alot of sence! :p

how big of a bucket and how do i keep my kat from drinking it?

Also if you do not have one, you might want to get a gravel cleaner (if you have gravel) :)

I do the gravl clean every 3-4 weeks

you can have a small bucket if you want, will just take longer

add the dechlorinator to the water prior to putting it in the tank :good:

ahh..... yet another thing i must purchis (sorry for the spelling)!

the list of stuff to buy always keeps growing lol, have you got a descent liquid test kit?

Just done a big water change myself.
Being a whimp I've found the best thing for me is to use two clean 3-litre orange squash bottles, add dechlorinator to the bottles, then fill with tapwater.
They are easy to pour into the tank without messing up my gravel, and about the right weight for me to handle when running backwards and forwards to the sink!

I use a plastic jug to empty the old tank water into a big bucket, then put the new dechlorinated water in with the squash bottles, refilling as many as needed :)
