there isnt anywhere to add this and only need a quick answer,,,,,,,when is the season to start making wine in the uk, is there such a thing as a season for wine making?.

Hi there,

I don't think there is a wine making season as my dad seems to make his wine and beer all throughout the year, he usually buys them home brewing kits.

I'm not an expert, but I think it depends on what sort of wine you're making. It all depends on when the fruit you're making it from is ripened. If it's grapes, I think the best time is around september.

That said, with pretty much year-round availability these days, I don't suppose it makes that much difference!

Good luck!

Of all factors affecting the quality of a wine, the quality of the grapes more than any other factor determines the quality of the wine. Their quality is not only affected by their variety, but also by the weather during the growing season, the soil, the time of harvest, and the way they are pruned. The combination of these effects is often referred to as their terroir. The most common species of wine grape is Vitis vinifera, which includes nearly all varieties of European origin.

The grapes are usually harvested from the vineyard in the autumn (fall), in the northern hemisphere from early September until the beginning of November, or the middle of February until the beginning of March in the southern hemisphere.

We make wine and beer all year round ;)

I remember going on a wine tasting trip for our german intensive, the woman said that their busiest months are september and october because thats when harvesting takes place

I moved this to the cooking forum, wine is used in cooking, so it sounded appropriate.
