didnt u do a 50% the day before?

id get a test kit or atleast keep a close eye on the fish cos you might of caused a minicycle.

by taking real plants out how will that stop an algae bloom?

too much water out in too little time aswel, mini cycle like sam said

:good:

nah its good.... there swimming happily u guys r just fish nerds...think about a new tank...u get the gravel from another tank...

wats a mini cycle...so wat u sayin my fish gunna die?

if i get a test kit wat difference would it make?

i guees u kids didnt take science class in school cus plants cause more algae then the fish do dummies...

guys i had 2...i took the petrified wood and slate out and boiled it

the water was light greenish brown tint to it...i see the fish saying thanks for clearing this big mess up...

theres enough bacteria in the gravel and the filters so everything is good.

really? Did they explain in your science class how this process is supposed to work? I've always understood that plants outcompete algae for food, so that fast-growing plants are the best way of keeping algae at bay.

oo u got me there...well i got enough advice from this website...

in other threads u say brown water? 100% water change

wats the difference in my case? seriously?

i think u guys r just being hardhearded

IF you want our advice, post a post, and listen.... IF you dont, dont bother posting, its somewhat frustrating when you dont listen to what we say and then turn around and call us names when we have the fish's best interest in mind.

if the real plants didnt cause my water to turn light green and the rocks to turn the water brown

why did the moderator move my other thread to the planted section?

it's might not of been bad water, just tannins in it, nothing wrong with taking the wood out and doing the same changes until it's so dilouted till you can't see it.

100% water changes are never good, i only do them on my little tanks as there is not alot of point trying to cycle them.

mini cycles will cause spikes in ammonia then nitrite.

plants out compete algae.

filters are going to have most of the bacteria in, gravel has far less than the filter.

what's gravel in another tank got to do with it?

how do you define happy?

also algae is a plant

sorry to be rude but you ignored us then called us names....

Did you wash your substrate before putting it in? i dont think the petrified wood is a good idea... just think about it, minerals are basically all that it is...Dont put that back in. Did you test the slate with the vinager test? it can still have a deposit on it, mine did. Did you rinse the artificial things? Id go get a very fast growing plant thats very hardy (i think cabomba is a good option) and use that to prevent algae.

why would the fish store sell petrified wood if it isnt good for fish?
