I have been running an external superfish pro sp3 filter for a few months now (second hand) and lately it gives off some major noise, not like air noise like a rasping grinding noise, it is quite intermittant but their a lot of the time, i just took the whole impeller assembly apart cleaned it all up, cleaned the in/out connectors up and its still doing this, sometimes shaking the canister helps and also switching it off and on but most of the time the noise is blasting.

I cant seem to find a lot of information (never mind parts) about this filter as i was thinking of replacing the impeller assembly and hoping it would solve this.
Has anyone here got the same filter or fixed the same problem on similar models? do anyone know of any parts supplier?, I have read that this filter is a white brand of an eheim filter but their is so little information about it, im pretty much stumped.

cheers

I dont have this filter, but does the shaft have rubber dampners at each end, designed to stop vibration. If so, are they in place properly?

hi the shaft has a rubber dampener at the bottom end which holds it in position, but not at the top, the shaft does not sit outside the top of the impeller.

cheers

also i have 2 trays of media before i have any mechanical filtration, the bottom layer appears to be medium sized course rocks, then seachem matrix in the next basket then filter pads, i know its a long #105### but would it be safe to remove the course rocks as the matrix should hold my bacteria?
