Nobby Needs A Special Home

It's more than likely due to having very clamped fins at some point in his delvelopment. This is what happened to Nobby when he got sick a few months ago and although his fins are now open it's left the kinks and creases in them.

He sounds so sweet, Netty!! If only I didn't live across the pond from you!

Glad to here you have already found him a loving home - way to go!!! :hooray:

Nobby is one of the juvies that survived our mysterious outbreak which killed alot of them over Xmas. He suffered with very clamped fins which has left them kinked. He was also very very thin and I really didn't think he'd make it. I almost euthanised him as he looked so sickly but the fact that he always perked up when he saw me and was eating well changed my mind. Right or wrong I decided to give him a chance. He is still small and I doubt he'll reach full size. Apart from looking odd he is a real character and very active and eats well.

This won't be first come first served. He'll only go to someone we feel will give him the best quality of life in a tank of his own. For that reason we don't want any money for him, just a loving home. I would love to keep him but we just don't have the room with the fry which are growing fast.

If anyone feels that they would like to take my little special needs boy on then please pm me.

This is Nobby

very stunning Netty. say hi to Nobby for me please

Thanks LionMom.....I couldn't have asked for a nicer home for him. It's going to be difficult to let him go cos I put so much time into getting him better and I'll miss his mad wiggling when I go to feed them all. He's always like.......I'm here....feed me first

Thanks Squiremaster...............Nobby says hi back :good:

It is good to see that you found a home for Nobby.

I would more than happily offered to give him a home.

Same here Netty, if you ever need to rehome any bettas there's always room at my house. Nobby looks like an adorable little firecracker, hope he thrives in his new home

Thank you so much everyone for your offers of a home for Nobby, who is on his way to his new home now!!!!

I'll make a note of everyone and if we ever have anymore like Nobby we'll know who to contact. It just so great to know that so many people are willing to rehome these special little ones :good:

Netty, I'm so sorry about the loss of your juvies, but very happy that some did survive and ALL will have loving homes.
And I'm so glad you love your babies so much and go so many extra miles for them.
You are really amazing and I'm having to use that handy-dandy drool-proof betta-watching bib you so kindly sent me to wipe sentimental tears from my eyes.
OK, maybe my sleeve...

ahhhh Nobby is awesome. I would have gladly given him a home. Certainly great to see him go to a good owner. Would love to see updates on his progress from Liz

Clarifying question... as I really don't know myself:
The 'kinks' in the fins are due to being stressed/clamp finned? (obv disease translates into this for other people reading..... Netty and Bronze keep their bettas in tip-top shape)

I suspected Cheebah had some genetic tendency to have the kink in his top fin and therefore was immediatetly discarded (to petco ranks  ). Can this occur genetically or is it more attributed to stress?

He has arrived! He is floating in his bag in his new home as we speak. He is such a little cutie! Even brought his own little suitcase with IAL and food!

when hes settled please can we have some pics :hyper:

Now I can breathe again lol. So glad he's arrived with his little overnight bag lol Look forward to hearing how he gets on in his new home and many thanks again Liz for taking him on for us :good:

Sy........thanks for your kind words and sorry I've made you shed more tears lol

RemZ............... it was a mystery as to why we had so many die as they all have water changes everyday and not all were affected. These kinks or uneven fins can occur genetically too. I have a little boy from a different spawn last year that has a crooked mouth. Other than that he's healthy and unaffected by it and is nearly a year old now. We can't sell him but have him in his own divided tank and he's treated the same as all the others. He'll never be bred from so will stay as a pet.
